While working on Dwellink, I often create concepts for in-game monsters that players can conquer and summon into battle. Since this is a creature collection game, it features creature evolution mechanics, which means that each monster has at least a couple of different forms or evolutions. These illustrations are ones to showcase my technical skills in art and design, my ability to work with geometry, colors, light, and materials.

Of course, a concept or an illustration will not become part of the game until a model is created based on it. So, creating modeling sheets of my own and other people's concepts is nothing new for me.

Miscellaneous concepts

Concepts for monsters are certainly interesting and pretty. Few things attract a player's attention as much as diverse and versatile enemies and obstacles that they have to overcome. But in my opinion, more important than creating a beautiful wrapper for the mechanics is creating a world and stories that the player will want to return to, and that will stay with them long after they have completed the game. I write lore, create plots and quests, but I also create concepts for the world the player will immerse themselves in. Races, flora, architecture, culture and traditions. And I accompany all of this with concepts and references that other team members can use as a guide. You can see examples of these in the next section.
